I think that community councils are a good idea, however will it be the same activists who have been on various boards throughout the community for years? How do these activists share their experiances to empower more local people in decision making processes? Young people should be encouraged to participate in community council, however many of these meetings can be so boring and longwinded, and can go on for hours mostly talking about how the area was when it was first built.

I will be delighted if the community councils are elected democratacly and are tenant lead rather than council lead. Local people participating in these council have to realise that the councillors should work for the people who elected them and not the reverse which has happened in the past in Greater Pilton.

In reply to your correspondants views on the new COmmunity Planning structures in Greater Pilton. I have been an activist in the area for a number of years and in my area we have about 6 different groups that all have a similar remit. Surely by having Community Councils will limit the amount duplication of work by local people who are give up alot of their spare time.

As Community Councillors are elected by local people this will make them more accountable which, currently some of the groups ar enot accountable to anyone. Community Councils will also be a strategic group therfore this will result in better communication between the Community and the Council and Council officials.

I think Community Councils will be good for the area and I look forward to see how these take effect.
