Well-Well-Well

Thursday, April 6th, 2006

Friends and readers. It would seem according to comments from an activist in the Muirhouse/Salveson comm/council ward that she and others have been what can only be called excluded fron proceedings.A letter publised in the NEN explains things in details.

So my friends the murky political history of Greater Pilton continues unabated. We predicted that there would be gerry mandering at Royston/Wardieburn comm/council and it would seem there has been although no-one was available for comment, that is suspicious in itself.

We contacted Royston Wardieburn comm/centre to ask how the meeting went but we could not get to speak to anyone that knew what went on at the meeting on Wedensday evening 5-04-06. Although we did get a response from a member of the public who is a member at the centre. She told us and we have to say that we cannot confirm this, that there is a strong rumour that one of the most experienced activists in the community, was ignored for an office bearers role, if this is true then we cry foul and the members of that comm/ council should be ashamed of themselves. No doubt we shall find out in due couse.

So in both the Royston and muirhouse comm/councils questions are already being asked and they have just started on their way. It really is not on for both these local councillors to have their sticky fingers in the pie and get their friends and family to over see things. It would seem that only councillor Fitzpatrick comes out of this with any credibility,so at least he can hold up his hands and with honesty say he did not try and fix the elections, we will report our suspicions to the City Council[will not do any good but we will try anyway]

Well we hate to say it but we told you so, we had faith and hope that these comm/councils would be fair and open,up to this point we were wrong, it smells.

It would be very interesting if those experienced activists who were one way or another ignored got together to form their own Greater Pilton comm/council they would be very formidable indeed if the names we have are true, and what a council they would make.

So finally in this travesty of murky dealings, we have once again contacted the local bookie to tell him of our information. And with that information he has now revised the odds-they are as follows

Royston-Wardieburn comm/council remain favourites in the gerry mandering stakes but there odds have hardened from

       11/10 on to 1/5 on

Muirhouse/salveson comm/council have jumped up in the betting and have hardened from

       2/1 against to 1/2 on

and you can have 3/1 any other council were you suspect gerry mandering has gone on.

Who is running the show

Wednesday, April 5th, 2006

Friends and readers. Regardless of who you voted for, we should expect that whom ever takes power should be running the show. It seems this is not the case.

Unelected officials have the reins if Edinburgh sucks.coms article is anything to go by. These greedy sleazy no-goods are answerable to us, the electorate, through our elected members.

Now of course in theory that is how it is supposed to work, but our ruling party has become complacent after nearly twenty years-YES TWENTY-hard to believe is it not, and they seem to have more or less handed power over to these no-goods.

There are sleazy stories now on a regular basis, very reminisant of the last days of the disgraceful Tory national administration. And now they offer us mana from heaven in the guise of community councils. Well my friends do not be fooled by a meaningless talking shop full of Labour party cronies who will only do their master/mistress bidding.

Now how do you think they would manage that, very simple really.Load it with your underlings call it democracy, patronise them with a few office bearers positions, and keep out anyone who might be a danger to them. That way you can control the agenda and most of its input. Stage managed democracy. Of course if you are lucky enough or devious enough, you can get the chairperson of your choice, usually young and inexperienced at that kind of committee level. Tell them in coded languagethey are the best thing since sliced bread and bingo you own and run your very own non politcal ineffective community council.

The problem with that dead end thinking, is that you may well allienate experienced community activists, and thereby cause splits in your community and its toy council. That of course, you may gamble to work in your favour, but if it backfires and it may well do, then it could signal a terminal decline in rather short lived community councils.

So indeed if any of our local councillors, have engineered elected positions, that is put in place their own candidates, and we at Pilton Sucks.com would never believe such underhand tactics would go on[really] then we can look out for fun and games,we will not have long to wait. It will be interesting to see who the office bearers are in the various councils, and who has been excluded.

You can be absolutely certain of one thing there will have been exclusions, and place people put in to tow the party line and not rock the boat.

It would have made absolute sense to have your most experienced people in place so the councils could hit the ground running, with inexperienced people shadowing them to take over in say, six months to a year, thereby bringing new people on and encourageing them to be independant and assertive in their own right. But we are more than sure that in at least one and probably more comm/council gerry mandering will have gone on.

We asked the local bookie to quote us odds on the comm/council most likely to have had the rug pulled from under their feet, and have councillors pal/s in office bearers positions.

As they -the bookies were not sure of who was on what council they had, what they called an educated guess and here comes the odds for the comm/council most likely to have been rigged

11/10 ON -ROYSTON-WARDIEBURN

2/1 AGAINST WEST PILTON

4/1 AGAINST MUIRHOUSE SALVESTON

10/1 AGAINST any other council

the bookies will pay out on win only so have a flutter and guess who cooked the books.

Community Support

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

Hello Everybody. We are a group of people who are employed within the Greater Pilton area. We have been reading the articles on bullying, and have found them very imformative and useful.

To say it came as a shock to us to find out who the victim of the Muirhouse bully was-is an understatement. He is known to us and is well respected in the community, hoe could this have been allowed to happen. We know of no-one who does not speak highly of him,and as his name gets out it will be obvious to all who he is.

We send our best wishes to him and wish him a speedy recovery, you are missed by a lot of people

yours in Friendship and respect

Maria,Denise,Graham and friends.

A Sorry Tale

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Friends and Readers. you are now well aware that PiltonSucks.com is actively running an anti-workplace bullying campaign, and its effects on the victims. As you know we have been covering as best we can the case of the MUIRHOUSE TWO who were bullied into submission by the Muirhouse Social Work Centre Criminal Justice Bully.

We are sorry to say that it has been reported to us, we have to tell you that this was a message passed to us from Shrubhill, so we have no evidence to support it, that one of the MUIRHOUSE TWO is suffering from severe depression as a result of what he experienced at Muirhouse Social Work Centre. We, if this is true are deeply saddened to report this.

When we tried to contact him we were told he would be unable to speak with us such was his state of mind at present.  We are shocked and angered that The Social Work Department must know about this and have as yet not brought the bully to justice. What has to happen before justice is seen to be done, does somebody have to die?   They would probably try to cover that up to.

We were numbed to find out about this, and we would have not been any the wiser if it had not been for our source at Shrubhill, thank you for that and keep us posted.

Will he, the victim, ever be able to trust again who knows.  We at Pilton Sucks.com will keep on the case, we hope his colleagues will support him they must do - they could be next.  Nothing would suprise us about the City of Edinburgh Social Work Department.

What of the other victim of the Muirhouse bully, well he is fighting on and pressing for an independent investigation, as we are and continue to do.  We, like the victims, are in this for the long haul.  We know that it will take time to get justice but we have that, the Muirhouse bully might think he has that, and for the time being he probably has, but it is limited.  Soon it will be made public, as will his name, but then again everybody in the social work department we have contacted knows who it is, and is very aware of the plight of the MUIRHOUSE TWO.

This dear friends is indeed a sorry tale, a tale of bully and victim, a tale of  illness and isolation, also one of protection and cover-up of the sinner while the sinned against, suffers.

What kind of society do we live in, were a so called caring profession allows bullys to thrive unpunished, while the victims have to suffer in silence. If we are to believe that justice willout then we have to see it in action.

Waterfront - The Forgotton Inclusion project

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

Friends and Readers. There is a growing number of professionals  in their fields coming to the conclusion, something that we have known for a long time, that the Waterfront Project,is purely land speculation and little else. Thanks in the main to councillor Maginnis the community of Greater Pilton has been entirely excluded.

It is fair to say that if there were a straw poll in the community to ask how many residents knew what was going on, very few could answer that they did, that in itself tells a story.  Why the secrecy? What is there to hide?   Surely it is in everybody’s interest to see this community is told the truth.

The North Edinburgh News (NEN) does not seem to be willing to report on this huge project and the lack of local involvment, nor does the people’s representatives, odd dont you think?

The lack of community involvement and information rightly leads to suspicion that all is not well at the heart of the operation. There is only a handful of people that know what is really going on and they will not say, so what is the big secret that the community cannot be let in on?

PiltonSucks.com believes that it has become to much for councillor Maginnis to handle and she is way out of her depth, as skillful a politician she may be, the speculators and their friends are running rings round her and she appears to be sinking in the quicksand of manipulation and slight of hand.

This is not good news for this community and changes must be made soon if we are to have any gains for the existing community. We offer the good councillor some sound advice in an effort to support her and the community.

We sincerly believe a community waterfront committee with real teeth, that bite, should be put in place to offset the stampeding speculation that is currently the order of the day.  The only item on the agenda of the waterfront business community.

We are not against the advancement of others and believe that enrichment can benifit all. Unfortunatly in the case of the waterfront project this is not happening.

So we are aware that there are some very experienced people in this community and that experience should be put to good use. We would not for a minute suggest who should be on the waterfront committee, but a quick look at the local community councils shows us that some of these people are in place already.

We have no wish to embarrass anyone by mentioning who we think would do a good job but several candidates stand out, the only problem is would they agree to such a task.

Councillor Maginnis should show leadership and as soon as possible put this committee-with-teeth in place.  As recently as Thursday evening we spoke to a well known and experienced activist in Royston Wardieburn community centre who would not be drawn on anything personal, which we respected, but we put to him the idea of a waterfront committee, his reply was that if it brought positve gains to the community, it may well be worth looking at, as anything would if it empowered the existing community.

One interesting point he put to us which we have to be honest we did not think of, was had anyone so far carried out an impact on planning blight re-a study on the Greater Pilton area.  Dont know - does anyone?  If the good councillor is feeling the heat and she must be, get help do not try to do it all yourself, that can only lead to mistrust and suspicion, if you are at all politically astute then it makes complete sense to bring others on board to help manage the load, after all we are supposed to be a community, and what better way to involve the community and lay waste to speculation of a negative kind. Â
