Stop The Slaughter
We are witnessing nightly on our tv screens what could very well become genocidel in proportions. The Middle East has forever been a powder keg which only requires the blue touch paper to be lit.
The grave danger is of course it may spread giving the opportunity for others to join the fight if they have not already done so. The despot leader of Iran who is sworn to destroy the jewish nation, must be rubbing his ignorant hands with glee, sending sucide bombers of which he is not one to blow people to bits and increase the carnage. Syria is another, they have mobilised their forces and have massed on the border.
The rights and wrongs of the situation vanish in a haze of slaughter, and we can but stand back and watch hoping for a miracle to come calling and save the day. Not far away lies the desperate mess that is called Iraq, more slaughter with no end in sight. Who ever has been wronged in this situation, and each will blame the other, no good can come of this conflict, for hate is a powerful weapon, more powerful than any man made weapon, and can inflict damage for generations.
Jew,Gentile, Muslim we are all made of the same stock we are all flesh and blood regardless of what god you believe in.Religous leaders some themselves fueled by hate have a duty to call for an end to violence and bloodshead, and preach peace not war.
The Jewish State has a right to its homeland and to live in peace,as do the Palestinian people as do all the peoples of the Middle East. History shows us that previous conflicts have eventually forced leaders round the table for talks, and that some good can come from it. Egypt,Jordan once enemies of Isreal are now peaceful neighbours.
Yes the problems are many and complex but the spread of hate has to be stopped for as we know we can all become victims of one fanatic or another. Our own social problems seem insignificant when we see and read what is going on in various parts of the world today.
But as insignificant as they may seem, the truth is we have come to understand through many years of struggle and toil that violence solves nothing and that the differences we have are far better spoken through, yes we may differ we may even argue, sometimes passionatly, but come to a consences we will and of course live to argue another day.
Such is the way of the world whatever your colour creed or religion, we are all Jock Tamsons Bairns, and we have to share this planet together, so if one country bullies another the rest have a duty to stop the bullying and make the peace, the alternative is what we witness daily.
Lines of grey muttering faces, masked with fear they leave their trenches, going over the top, while time ticks blank and busy on their wrists, and hope, with furtive eyes and grappling fists, flounders in mud. O Jesus make it stop!Â
