 A TUC survey has found that 2 million people have been bullied at work over the past six months,often by their managers.
In a report published recently the TUC called for tougher laws to protect staff from intimidation and punish bullies.
The TUC said bullying accounted for the loss of about 18 million working days each year,with employees going off sick or changing jobs to escape humiliation. About 75% of the bullying was perpetrated by managers or supervisors.
Brendan Barber,TUC general secretary, said “Employers should be tackling bullying just as they would treat any other workplace hazard.”
