Tough At The Top
We can now rest peacefully, the Labour Group has selected its new leader in the shape of Ewan Aitken. There is no place in the new team  for the runner up Elizabeth Mcginnis, which Pilton Sucks feels is not very comrade like given the experience of Ms. Mcginnis
It may well be that she has ruffled to many feathers to have been considered,or her closeness to her business pals of the Waterfront development. But still we feel a place could have been found for her at executive level.
But never mind Elizabeth now that you have a little more time on your hands we have no doubt that the community will benifit from that.
But a far more serious problem is awaiting the peoples party. We are all aware that the local Labour is practically non existant, and the existing membership bar one or two are totally out of touch with the community. This is bordering on a disaster, and they to like the local community council have to ring in the changes or face meltdown at the polls.
We have no party allegiance but the alternative is not worth thinking about. If the local labour party and the constituency party do not get their heads out of the clouds and their feet firmly back in reality, electoral disaster awaits, and they will have no one to blame bar them selves.
Why have so many people deserted the party, there is not one single answer but a number of factors, which have to be addressed. For instance the party has been hi-jacked by what used to be called the middle class trendies, they will destroy the party with their ridiculas ideas and head in the sand mentality.
The method of campaigning has to change with real people on the ground who the communities can identify with, the party has to become closer to the people not aloof and distant.
Working class communities are historically loyal to Labour and these Politically correct members are taking advantage of that.
This indeed will be their down fall as the punters desert Labour in search of political soul mates. We believe that it may already be to late to save political meltdown, and damage limitation may have to be introduced just to save face.
These people will leave Labour once the going gets tough or their own political ambitions become non-existant. What Pilton Sucks.com believes is that to avoid utter wipeout radical changes have to be made at grass roots level and those people who have left shoud be given every encouragement to return.
Pilton sucks knows without giving names and showing favour that Greater Pilton contains several people who could re-energise Labour locally, but would they be prepared to do so,that is doubtful, but if you do not ask you do not get.
So if Labour get off their high horse and go cap in hand to the people we have in mind, you may yet see a change in fortune,if not then you will reap what you sew.Â
