The Ship Is Sinking

Saturday, September 16th, 2006

As Donald Anderson prepares to leave the local scene and try his hand at being an MSP, so we see Frank Russell depart along with Brian Fallon and Sheila Gilmore. Any more before the deadline is up,better hurry that £20,000 pounds will not be there for long.

We have some other potential ship jumpers we think should also leave the scene. We know Auntie Lesley might be on her way but what of the other two in Greater Pilton Billy Fitzpatrick and Elizabeth Mcginnis. Long time servers of the community and in Elizabeths case empire buliding as well. £20,000 pounds could be a deposit for that penthouse flat she craves, and a further bonus would be she would be further away from the punters, she serves so well.

But what of Bill Bailie, what could he do with £20,000,the mind boggles, but here is some ideas. He could commision a statue of himself and donate it to the community,at least the neds would have something worth vandalising. He could donate some of it to the re-elect Chisholm campaign, but even Billy would realise that would be money down the drain. A season ticket for Hearts perhaps,no on second thoughts that would make the Chisholm re-election campaign look attractive.

So we wont have to wait long to find out if leftie Lizzie and Bill Bailie will try and be re-elected once again or take the money and run.Our advice for what it is worth have a serious think about it but take the money PLEASE.

Same Old Same

Well what a suprise, your friend and ours Keith Geddes pal and consultant to his political cronies has put himself forward, yes you read that correctly put himself forward as a candidate for the soon to be vacated seat of  Musselburgh and East Edinburgh.

So much for new people being pushed forward for the Scottish Parliment, just the same people brought out of mothballs offering us the benifit of their vast self promoting expertise, which they want to inflict on us,the poor mug punters.

We already know that Auntie Lesley Hinds is desperate for the seat, and has already shown her hand, but the arrival of Grand Duke Geddes on the scene has thrown a spanner in the works. Mr. nice guy tells us that he has a lot to offer, but his previous attempts at parlimentary seats, have shown that the punters do not seem to agree with his own version of devine deliverance.

So we are in for a dog fight as one or two others have shown an interest in the seat,a seat as it happens may not go Labours way,so it may just be a futile exercise, in false promises and half truths, as the back stabbing begins in earnest.

We have no real interest in who wins, but we see it as a wasted opportunity to bring in new people and fresh ideas, something sadly lacking in the Scottish Executive.

So our advice to Keith is to carry on making those big bucks consulting with your mates, and giving them your wit and wisdom, that to may be short lived as locally Labour could go to the wall, but then again you may have seen the writing on the wall, and are jumping ship as well.

What About Me

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

As the Labour party continue to tear themselves apart, with both Brown and Blair at each others throats, the interests of the country takes a poor second place to these overly ambitious comrades.

So what of the chances of our very own communities minister Malcolm all things to all men Chisholm in next years Scottish Elections. Well as smug as he may seem, and he really does not know any other way to behave, his chances of re-election must have jumped down a notch given the fact he has more or less sold out the Greater Pilton community when it comes to local employment in the Waterfront Development.

He did not have the guts or honesty to stand up and fight for local jobs no matter how much he crows about it,he along with the local councillors have let this community down very badly,a community which has consistently returned Labour candidates only to be kicked in the teeth for their loyalty.

Of course he might console himself with the thought that if the trendies vote Labour he might not need these awful working class types to vote for him. How wrong can one fool be.Chisholm should ashamed of himself, but he wont be he is to smug to even consider the fact he might have got it wrong.

We have come to expect second hand service and self promotion from leftie Lizzie, Auntie Lesley and cannon fodder Fitzpatrick. But we might have expected Minister Chisholm to stand up to them, instead of paltry excuses of why he cant.

The man has no principles apart from himself and his career, and he owes that to a handful of backstabbers, who would get rid of him in an instant if he did not kneel at their alter,of useless resolutions, and meaningless statements, which the public neither understand or care about.

So Mr. Chisholm when you are next campaigning in Greater Pilton with the other vote grabbers, just think what you could have done, what you should have done and finally what you did do. It does not add up to much yet you still want our support for more of the same. YOU MUST BE KIDDING.

Cast Ye Into The Wilderness

Suprise suprise, friends and readers,we have a new visitor in North Edinburgh. John Travers who had the courage and backbone to whistle blow what he saw as wrong doing, has been punished for his sins and flung to the lions, the lions being dodgy Derek Suttie and Christine Mckay, who is the partner of Mike the shark Rosendale, isnt that a coincidence.

As john reported what he seen as very bad practice, and is subcequently being sidelined for it,it may come as some consulation to him that we are well aware of dodgy Suttie and his workings, his brown nosing with Rosendale his sucking up to Ms Mckay and together their patronising of the Greater Pilton Community.

Greater Pilton will be part of Johns remit and this should make for interesting times. While Suttie, Mckay and the rest of their nest of vipers take advantage of their positions, and abuse them, the community which they are supposed to empower with their wonderful skills takes second place to their own agenda.

Edinburgh Sucks has run an investigation into Rosendales rotten activities, and continues to pursue the truth, however deep it has been buried.

As it happens John has joined us at an opportune time, as  we have been highlighting the problems of the bullying of the Muirhouse Two for some time, and the cover up At Muirhouse Social Work Centre where the bully practices his trade, and management seems completely oblivious-or pretend to be- of what is going on.

So John you are not alone in the whistle blowing stakes, and Pilton Sucks will be happy to report what you have got to say.

In the meantime we may bump into each other in the passing Wont that make an interesting conversation.

Short Not Sweet But Deadly

Bullying takes many forms, but one in particular stands out in the workplace.

This sort of bullying is when someone is genuinely having a go at you; who singles you out for abuse, who intimidates; who has a disregard for your feelings.

This type of person gets their kicks from kicking others, and to them unassertive behaviour is like a red rag to a bull-recognise anyone yet-

If you do not stand up to them, they will just bully you even more-still not ring a bell-

And rightly, there are rules, procedures tribunals and systems in place to help protect victims from such people.

If this is the sort of bullying you are suffering do not hesitate to go directly to your HR Manager,Union Representative or whoever represents you in your place of work.

Bullying makes work one of the most unpleasant and anxiety ridden experiences around.

Who wants to keep going back to a place where you are the one chosen for target practice?

Still not recognise anyone-we do.

Its On The Rise

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

Bullying and harassment are widespread in the Victorian public sector, affecting one in four workers.

That is the finding of the Commissioner for Public Employment in his annual report, which showed that 23% of people surveyed had been harassed or bullied in the past 12 months. A further 19% had observed such conduct in the same period.

Commissioner Peter Salway said”It is a real problem which organisations need to deal with.”

Bullying in State Government bodies has ranged from verbal intimidation to physical violence. The commissioners report also revealed” a critical lack of confidence by employees in grievance processes” with 36% fearing they would suffer”negative concequences” if they lodged a complaint.

Mr Salway said “There seems to be a lack of trust in management and a concern that grievances will not be resolved independetly.

Community and Public Sector Union state secretary said workplace bullying was “a growing epidemic.”

State Opposition WorkCover spokesman Bill Forwood said “it is no wonder the Governments WorkCover premiums are so high. they have an obligation to set a benchmark on best practice in the workplace and these figures from their own reporting show this is not happening.”

recently it was reported that six bullying cases involving two departments and one agency cost taxpayers almost One Million pounds.

Is the sleeper awakening.

Friends and readers. On Wedensday 6-09-06 a meeting was held in Royston Wardieburn Community Centre, with a view to discussing the proposed new centre which is to be built next to Royston Primary School. According to reports there was a good turn out with local users making their voice heard.

This is good news given that in recent times it has been two steps back one forward. But let us forget the many changing versions of the new centre and concentrate on this version.

Pilton Sucks hopes it will not turn out to be a white elephant, and that it will truely reflect the needs and requirements of the community, and not just a meeting place for various groups who fancy a freebie.

It will take a strong management committee to make sure that does not happen, and that the community get maximum use not minimum use. And before the jonnie come latelys join the bandwagon and sweep the community away, we must make sure its community first and hangers on second. Oh and of course those who live for the next meeting will pay for the priviledge of it,do not try to push the community out of the way,as we suspect this will be the plan.

So friends and readers watch out and be aware because if not your new centre will have its doors shut in your face.

its lost again

Our good friend the Social Work Department is at it again, this time over seemingly lost evidence. How clumsy they are. With all these pen pushers at their disposal you would think they could be a bit more careful. But alas no, so fortunately there is a copy, so Mr. Mules it will be winging its way to you shortly, only this time be careful.

Not Me Im Busy

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

While Rome burns in the guise of the social work department, senior managers run for cover to protect themselves in the face of serious allegations from the Muirhouse Two.

We have received recent reports which tell us if true that senior managers now realise bullying went on  at Muirhouse Social Work Centre, and nobody did anything about it. It seems they were fooled by the bully who created an illusion through ass licking and trickery to worm his way into a position of trust.

a recent display of trickery was a reception for social workers from Thailand held at the city chambers. We were there to,at a different meeting but the same place. We are not fooled by his ass licking tactics, his seniors might be but be sure we are not.

So you can run but you cannot hide even behind the skirts of your manager, she wont save you, and of course we do not forget your sidekick although he is instantly forgetable due largely to a deficiet of courage and personality.

We know the department is lacking in strength to rid themselves of this and all other bullys, they have let it go to long, but an oppprtunity awaits for someone to come forward and put their heads above the paripit and rid the department of bullies, it has to come, the question is when?. We believe sooner rather than later.
