Summit And Nothing
Friends and Readers. It would seem according to reports received that the Waterfront summit which was held at the Edinburgh Filmhouse on Saturday 23-09-06 was a bit of a let down.
First thing springs to mind ,is why was it held in central Edinburgh when we have perfectly good venues in Greater Pilton, the arts centre in Muirhouse for example.
The Pilton Partnership who hosted the meeting tried their best and credit is due to them for making an attempt to involve the local community, when the politicians cannot be bothered.
We had the usual claptrap from Councillor we cannot do anything about it Fitzpatrick and mere words of patronising from the peoples champion comrade Chisholm.
The developers friend councillor Mcginnis shot off at the mouth and said very little of substance and bored everybody to bits.
So what came out of the summit. No promises of local jobs or even an effort to make sure steps were taken to enable local people into employment. We should all be able to drink from the well but alas no just the favoured few and hangers on.
What about affordable housing, ? good question what about it. Platitudes and words wont wear any more we want action, but we will not get it from our existing rulers, they are just not interested, not even at the races, could not give a dam.
Just bland statements and words, talk is cheap and will not deliver the needed jobs and self regeneration they would bring. Strong handed demands and a more watchful eye on what is going on would bring these developers to heel but if you go along with Councillor Fitzpatricks argument then there is nothing to be done but stand back and watch. Dont think so,the local employment issue should have been challenged at European level, but it was not.
We the community are in a fix. We cannot go forward because our politicians, the very people we mistakenly elected have no backbone and are not up for the fight. We have said before that they have been there to long, and this just proves our point. Changes at political level are needed before we can move forward, but will we get them, who knows. But if the people of Greater Pilton keep on electing the same old tired faces, they will get the same old tired stories.
We have an opportunity to change the political map of our community,we should take it. Come next year and false promises are made yet again,we will only have our selfs to blame if we fall for the same dodge. So get up and make the changes that are so desperatly needed, dont let another false dawn fool you once again.

Tell us how to change the polictical map of our community. You attack our political Rep’s. What is the alternative…TORY? Speak out show yourselves, if you dare!!!

You appear just like the Nat’s. Hate the Gov, but offer no direction or alternatives, or do you lack conviction or moral courage. What about leadership?
