It seems friends and readers that our old friend Ray joined up Harris top jolly at Telford college is changing his tune on community involvement with the Waterfront development. Up to recently he was all for talk and no action much like the previous local administration,but now it seems he is happy to dance to the tune of the new administration who would it seems like more community involvement.

Well which is it to be Ray one or the other. You where happy to jump into bed[a horrible thought] with the previous chair of the board but now you want to sing a different song. Talk about fairweather friends. Is there anybody with a mind of their own that will be honest and say that this venture was corrupt from the start and deliberatly excluded the local punters. Pilton Sucks will and we can guess a couple of others as well.

The days of the Ray Harrises of this world preaching to the plebs is hopefuly over and he can concentrate his energies on turning out good quality students who can make a positive contribution to this and other communities. Leave the community politics to the community.  

We have had another employee of the secure unit at Howdenhall telling us that Frank Phelen is covering up everything that is going on at the unit. She told us that Phelen is trying to scare employees into telling him where the leaks are coming from.

She said - Phelen is nothing but a chancer and a cheat and is working his ticket knowing he can bullshit his seniors into believing all is well-. It’s good to hear what staff have to say even when being threatened. Anybody else who would like to comment on these units will as always have their names and position protected by Pilton Sucks.

Did you realise or even know friends and readers about the savage conditions some of our poor hard pressed directors have to endure while they are working their little socks off for the betterment of themselves.

Allow Pilton Sucks to enlighten you all. Sir Fred Goodwin chief executive received a bonus of 2.8 million pounds this year. Johhny Cameron chief executive of the royal banks global banking and markets division raked in 2.3 million pounds.

That pales into insignificance with the package that Bob Diamond received from Barclays bank  a moral obcenity of 23 million pounds. Of course there where the small fry as well. Jann Brown of Edinburgh based oil and gas explorer Cairn Energy only managed 1.7 million,poor thing. Our highest paid lady was Dame Majorie Scardino of publishers pearson who grabbed 2.1 million.

These vultures and their greedy counterparts rake in the big bucks turning their backs on any kind of pay restraint in fact pay restraint is a dirty word to these fat cats. They and their kind will preach to everybody else about belt tightening and small wage increases while living off the fat of the land. With poverty on the increase and more and more people losing their homes because greedy financial insitutions could not lend quick enough these nasties keep coining it in.

They are the very same greedy bastards that will sneer at working people trying to fight for better wages and conditions,while at the same time grab as much cash as their greedy hands can get. A society that allows this to happen is suffering from some acute illness.

The old tried and tested and much churned out excuse of you have to pay the top money to get the top people,wears a little thin and dosen’t wash anymore.They are just plain and simply greedy,and make most of us sick to the stomach. While the rest of us have to fight for everything we get these worms sit back and count the piles of dosh and hide behind it pretending they deserve it.

Our society which prides itself on being civilised upright and moralistic had better take a good look at itself and waken up to the fact that these people are not worth the vast amounts they are paid and nothing like it. If they had the good of the country at heart why not take the average wage and donate the rest to charity. No chance the only charity they know is them selves. these people make the rest of us puke. 

On Thursday of last week [23-08-07] a couple of our asssociates attended the rally at the City Chambers arguing against the proposed school and community centre closures. During the rally one of our associates was handed a photo-copied report about the repeated complaints by a number of staff who where mis-treated at the Muirhouse Social Work Centre.

This report gave an interesting insight into how the caring sharing Health and Care department where dealing with these and other complaints and all about the same person. We have handed this report to the appropriate people and they can deal with it. It is now very clear that a major cover up is at hand. This report contained details of yet another complaint which was given into Waverley Court concerning the Muirhouse Social Work Centre and one of it’s employees.

This report made clear that a number of senior officials are now convinced inappropriate behaviour took place and was wrongly dealt with,by inappropriate behaviour they surely mean workplace bullying. The report cites other matters outwith bullying but never the less points to a severe lack of supervision in this office. We are sure this report was not meant to be read by any of the victims of bullying and it is likely it wasn’t.

It remains to be seen if any action will be taken,but one thing is now certain bullying took place at this office in Muirhouse and to a number of employees,and their complaints where not taken seriously enough. Pilton Sucks did and has continued to confront the issue. Over a period of time leaks as they do have come out building up detail of exactly what went on in Muirhouse and who was to blame.

This confidential report now confirms what we already knew,we now await with interest what action will be taken. What really happened to these victims only they know and how it affected them. What we can say with some clarity is that management did nothing when this came to light,they are now panicking and with some justification. When action was required to deal with the bullying none came and as the complaints have grown they went to ground.

It seems they where gripped with fear or where just at a lose on what to do. When the bully should have been disciplined and or sacked nothing appears to have happened. We are told by a social work source that if any investigation had taken place the bully should have been suspended while it took place,did this happen? likely not knowing this department. So if our source is correct it seems likely this department has broken it’s own proceedures, interesting how they will get out of that one.

We are also told that one of the victims had been so traumitised by his experience in Muirhouse he might never work again and is activly we are told seeking early retirement.If this is true then this is nothing short of disgraceful,a life ruined by a mindless thug. How bullys can get away with it is difficult to understand,we know they are cowards and abuse their position making their targets life a misery until their spirit is broken and can no longer go on.

We also know that victims of bullying whether it be at school or at work have attempted suicide such is their torment. The people who inflict this kind of misery on others need help to manage their behaviour and never allowed to have authority over others. But as long as a bully gets away with it they will carry on. The city has a duty as an employer to make it clear bullying will never be tolerated,it hasn’t done that and may well pay the price. Staff have a right to work in a safe enviournment and not put at risk by inadequate bullys.

Workplace bullying is as we have said repeatedly is a crime there are victims who suffer sometimes make attempts on their lives and may be scared for a very long time. As long as this crime is not dealt with and/or covered up these bullys will thrive. But we make clear that those who sit back and do nothing or attempt to cover it up are just as guility as the bullys themselves. 

It wasn’t me your honour honest,is no excuse.     

As a number of educational establisments come under threat of being closed,in an attempt to save money and balance the budget,let us wander over to the estimated £600 million to bring back trams to Edinburgh.  this is a total and complete waste of money,money that would better off being spent educating our children and utilising these facilities for the betterment of the communitites they serve.

Never in the history of Edinburgh political cock-ups and there has been a few, has there been a bigger cock-up than this. Schools and community centres play a major role in providing all round services to communities,on the other hand the proposed trams service nothing and nobody except the punters who will make a few quid out of it. To add salt to the wounds the demonstrators where not allowed to make any kind of representation to argue their case,democracy in action is it not.

Labour where rightly tossed out because they had become corrupt with power leaving unelected officials to run the city while the then ruling group played at being bigger than  they really where. While our already crappy roads are being dug up for god knowes what our schools and community centres and yes they are our’s are being undermined and threatened,what kind of message does that send out to the Edinburgh electorate, yes we can have trams at any cost because we the politicians want them to satisfy some stupid logic but we will close schools and centres because we have to save money. 

It’s clear some of these part time politicians don,t have any kind of idea what the impact of such closers would be,but they are more than willing to do what it takes to have even more congestion on the roads and money is no object. As the chattering classes wave their party credentials in the air bleating about the lack of understanding that these terrible working class types have,it dosen’t take much understanding to realise when you are being robbed so we can have costly trams clogging up our pot holed ridden roads.

When will politicians grow balls and stand up for what is right and fair. We already pay very high council tax for services which if take a close look in some of the disadvantaged housing schemes seems a joke,we are now told you will continue to pay high council tax but for less sevices but we will have the trams to fall back on,lucky us.

It is crystal clear that the majority of Edinburgh citizens don’t want this waste of money tram system but they do wnat schools and community centres. But the politicians ignore that for their own opinions,opinions they don’t have to pay for. Just down the road from the hallowed chambers the local community council has been fighting a battle to preserve the old town from becoming a tourist piss pot,will anybody listen to them dosen’t look like it as plans for yet another hotel are stream rollered ahead.

We don’t need another bloody hotel employing cheap labour immigrants but people power is ignored and replaced by we will do what we want politics. But we must look after the tourists and make sure they are catered for while our citizens and what they want is ignored. What is to become of our childrens education and their future,why are our communities shit on time after time and are the victims of failed policies.

Those who can least afford to live in this city are the ones who suffer the most. They are at the mercy of ruthless politics which couldn’t give a toss about the poorest and weakest.Politicians don’t represent us just themselves and party dogma. Ironically one of the first tram links was to be the North Edinburgh link which took in Granton which has one of the highest unemployment levels in the country,some of the worst housing and second class services.

We had expected nothing else from the corrupt bunch in charge and we where not disappointed. Money needs to be properly spent and invested in these and other poor areas of the city to give people an opportunity to breath and expand their ideas. Our communities are in a state of decay and have been for years. We don’t need trams or any other fancy pie in the sky idea,we require visionary thinking coupled with the investment required to bring our deprived communities to life,not ignored and swept under the carpet.

It appears friends and readers that more than one national newspaper is taking an interest in Mr. Phelens management or lack of it as is more like it, of the secure units of Howdenhall and St Cathrines. It’s seems Phelen’s fortress mentality is coming under scrutiny from his bosses at Children and Families.

It seems mumblings of discontent are rife amongst staff at these two units regarding Phelen’s activities and this has reached the ears of senior management. Tip of the iceburg is what one member of staff said with regards to the article in the News Of The World. The city officials in their infinite wisdom have cobbled together an excuse to try and fob the papers off,but that won’t wash as serious issues have to be addressed and Mr. Phelen brought to account.

As we have already said the buck stops with Phelen and it’s no good him trying to blame a member or members of staff for his lack of clarity in managing these units. He can interview staff till he is blue in the face and blame who he likes but it is he who is responsible for what goes on at these units and it is he who must fall on his sword. But like a number of these small minded middle managers he will try and hide behind his seniors.

As the Secure unit in Howdenhall has a school within it Pilton Sucks asks does Mr Phelen who heads up the unit have an educational qualification?Our source an employee dosen’t think so. All Phelen seems to have is an ability to cover up what is going on in both St Cathrines and Howdenhall.

For instance our source tells us that in 1997 a female resident was seriously assaulted,also we are told that a female resident was having an inappropriate relationship with her judo teacher,Mr. phelen was in charge of the unit when all this went on,so what action did he take.

Why is Phelen wishing to interview staff about so called leaks when his seniors are his puppets and tell him everything,is it an attempt to make everything look above board. We are also told that unit manager Peter Mclusky [St Cathrines] knew of assaults on residents but done nothing about it. It appears if you are not a yes man in Frankies camp then you are shown the door pretty sharpish. We understand that a resident kept a diary of these and more events and that this diary has gone missing.

The employee told us that paperwork relating to serious incidents involving over zealous staff has apparently gone missing that’s conveinient isn’t it Mr. Phelen. The employee who contacted Pilton Sucks is truely sick at what’s been going on at these units. The employee was relieved that the News Of The World has cottoned on to what is going on and hopefully will investigate further.

There would appear even with threats from Phelen that some staff are prepared to talk about the reality of these secure units. Phelen must carry the can for what has gone on there and it dosen’t wash trying to hide away. The residents are vunerable people and Phelen has overall authority and that is where the buck stops. Phelen seems to like to throw his weight about and then cover up any problem he can’t explain away. 

It is time for this jumped up no-good Phelen to come clean and do the decent thing and resign. We are sure the papers won’t let go of this boiling pot and ultimately Phelen will get his fingers burnt. Not before time.     

You will remember friends and readers in a recent edition of a national newspaper,the shocking revelations concerning Howdenhall secure unit. No only where they true there is  more unacceptable  behaviour going on at this unit, and it is being covered up by our old pal the boss man himself Mr. Frank Phelen.

This jumped up snot nose is threatening staff that if they leak anything to the papers he, yes snotty nose Phelen himself will disipline them and have them dismissed. Since Phelen knew what was going on he is determined to keep a lid on it. A memo has been circulated from the masters office reminding staff of what will happen to them if they speak out about the goings on in Howdenhall.

Frank Phelen has a lot to answer for and to,but he is determined to lie and cheat as well as threaten staff in an attempt to cover up scandalous behaviour in this unit. Pilton Sucks believes this jumped up nothing Phelen should be exposed for what he is and he be dismissed for his mishandling and non-management of this unit. It seems the Muirhouse Social Work Centre is not the only place where a piece of shit can thrive.

It seems the original Muirhouse two who started the ball rolling with regards to workplace bullying at the Muirhouse Social Work Centre,are still fighting the good fight to highlight the disgusting behaviour that went on there and the torment they both had to endure. As readers will be aware more people have come out of the woodwork and complained of bullying by this thug who is still on the loose and has yet to be brought to justice.

We hear ,as yet unconfirmed rumours that developments in this most awful of cases are afoot and the victims of this thugish behaviour are not going away. It appears that the latest victim has sought legal advice so the pressure for action will mount and there will be no hiding place for this coward.  A council source has told  George who is dealing with workplace bullying  that there is a lot of support for these victims given that the bully is well known for his thugish behaviour.

The latest victim is outraged by the treatment he received and is determined to see the process through no matter how many obstacles the caring sharing Health and Social Care Department put in front of him in an attempt to protect themselves and by default protect the thug. And it is clear that this Department will put as many hurdles in the way then hide behind the due process. Hide they may,but the truth is out there and it will come out,and this employee unfriendly Department will have to face up to the fact that they did nothing and stood back even in the face of what is said to be over whelming evidence against this bully and turned a blind eye to brutish behaviour and gave the green light to bullying,something we may add they have issued a pamphlet on telling all who are silly enough to believe it that stern action will be taken against workplace bully’s.

Oh really tell that to the victims.

For those that read the horror story of what happened at the Howdenhall secure unit as reported on recently in The News Of The World,will be pleased to know that the reporter who wrote the article has made contact with an employee of the children and families department who knowes much more of went  on at this unit and the missing paper work.

The informant has first hand knowledge of how clients where treated and how paper work was doctored to suit. The city say they are satisfied with the explaination given but there is more much more and Pilton Sucks is told that more shocking revelations will be made available to the reporter with evidence to back it up.
