Ignored And Angry

Friends and readers.As you may be aware George our intrepid reporter/investigator has had his teeth into what has been going on at the now infamous Muirhouse Social Work Centre. Many of our readers have been following the Health and Social Care’s tissue of lies and cover up’s regarding the serious workplace bullying that went on there including one of the victims who tried to take his own life after being bullied to a standstill.

On Friday 19-10-07 Pilton Sucks was contacted by a former employee of the Muirhouse Social Work Centre,who left after being subjected to abusive behaviour and consistent undermining. This person gave his name and of course we checked it out as he insisted to make sure everything was above board. This person is still employed within the city but with a different department.

George met with him and listened to his story. It was a graphic account of mis-management ,blatent disregard of health and safety issues and of staff subjected to isolation with no support but plenty of bullying by the line manager[whose name we do have] This person supervised people on Community Service and told us that the service users were more than aware that he was being undermined and took full advantage of the situation knowing that he would get no support only critisism from his so-called manager.

He was subjected to verbal abuse from his manager who always hid behind the rules something we where already aware of,and that he was concious that this manager was trying to get rid of him,again something we are familiar with,and have encouraged the department to look at with regards to staff turnover.

He told us that he was practically at his wits end and his moral was so low he started to believe it was him that was always at fault,something a serial bully is a past master at. He had spoken with colleagues at length about the action that should be taken,but was convinced nobody would listen,something that has up to now proven to be correct. George spent about an hour with this former employee,who has a detailed list of what he was subjected to and by whom.

He also made it clear to us that his manager had assistance with this abusive behaviour,his assistant was all to keen to impress by going along with this abuse and bullying and made no attempt to put a stop to it,in fact as a rookie we where told to the Criminal Justice set-up he could be easily and willingly manipulated to do exactly as this thug of a manager wanted.

All in all George just listened to the diary of systematic abuse suffered by this employee,and we know for certain he was not alone in being subjected to abuse. We also know from a conversation a Social Worker had with a senior manager that it was well known that there was-in his words -a managerial problem in Muirhouse.

Still nothing was done and the bullying was allowed to go on,even though it was starting to filter out to the other Community Service teams that the Muirhouse Centre was a no-go area. We also had information again from a former employee who worked just one Saturday at the Muirhouse Centre and did not go back,as he could not stand the way he was watched over,this employee worked in another district and Saturday would have been overtime for him.

Why senior management have allowed this situation to continue when they knew there was a problem defeats logic. Employees have come forward to tell what was really going on at this Centre,and still nothing is done to combat the problem of an employee who lacks self restraint but is cunning enough to hid behind the rules when it suits.

We are certain that senior management have enough evidence to nail this creep but sit on their hands and do nothing. We now know that humanitarian of the year and senior Social Worker Michelle Miller believes that some abusive behaviour is acceptable towards staff and has we are told put this down on paper. Would Ms. Miller find abuse to service users acceptable. Certainly not so why is it acceptable to abuse staff?

We think she would find it very difficult to justify this in a court of law,and she may yet have to. Mass cover up and a maze of lies and deceit,all in order it seems to protect a bully,who it appears everybody in Criminal Justice is aware of,and is common knowledge amongst Community Service staff.

The former employee has had time to reflect upon his period in the Muirhouse Centre and this has only made him more determined to make sure this thug is caught and punished for his crimes. Nobody ,he told George has the right to abuse others but it certainly seems that this bully has been given the green light by his managers to carry on abusing others.

Our Social Work group have been informed about this latest development and are only to willing to pass information to us if it helps rid Social Work of this thug.
