Friends and readers. As you know Pilton Sucks prints what others won’t and we will continue to do so informing the community of what’s going on in their name.But from time to time we try to lighten up the whole business of community life,and to that end we have a wee tit bit for your enjoyment.

Last week our associate George was driving along Boswall Parkway and who should he spot but Pilton Sucks old mate and regular reader Bill nowght to do with me Fitzpatrick. Our former Ballie has been keeping a low profile since May last year and of course we wish him well in all that he does. George tells us Bill was looking very dapper in his black wooly hat and matching jacket and was deep in conversation with another punter.

Our Bill as you know was a long serving and suffering cooncillor but has now retired to private life and the real world. In his favour he was one of the very few working class Labour councillors unlike one or two of his former comrades who like the finer things in life,isn’t that right Liz? Billy boy could often be seen at various bus stops if there was no taxi’s available  chatting to the plebs more often than not shaking his head probably telling the unfortunate person he was in conversation with,it was nothing to do with him.

Of course that infamous nickname stuck with him and he was often heard saying he would change his name by deed poll to include his famous catch phrase. Well it’s good to know Bill is still with us and we hope his sense of justice and fair play is there to. Or do we hear the faint echo in the distance-it’s nowght to do with me.  

Friends and readers. The hype of Xmas is over and the winter blues are with us. All we have to remind us is the toothy smile of the ultra false and grossly overpaid ,under talented Jackie Bird.

While she counts her inflated New Year fee the rest of us mere mortals shiver away frightened to put the heating on for fear of not being able to pay the hiked up fuel bills. Still we can console ourselves with the thought of our Government fighting to make sure we are not getting ripped off by these greedy bastards.

While Jackie did her false best to drum up enthusiasim for a show that was probably recorded in the summer time and the other two clowns Stott and Watt stood on a platform in Princess Street looking absolutely miserable desperatly trying to convince everybody what a great event it was. There is no holding back the greed of some.

It is suprising that toothy Jackie did not try for a pantomine part,it’s a good earner and she’s a dead ringer for widow twanky. For the rest of us plebians it’s misery as normal,with grey skies and even darkier times to come if the economic forecasters are to be believed. But we have to pull out the good bits. At least we won’t have Jackie Bird telling us to let it all hang out and shake it all about for another year unless of course you are a glutton for punishment and watch the Scottish news on the BBC where you can see Jackie with her other face,I’m a professional journalist face. Or the pain of third rate presenters partying on a 5 foot by 5 foot platform,who are really just desperate to be anywhere but there.

A massive queue on the re-opening of the doctors surgery in Boswall Parkway was there for all to see,with the usual winter ailments. But it seems there is a new winter ailment which requires immediate treatment and possibly a sick line for a couple of weeks. Yes friends and readers you’ve got it,or you may have it. It’s the Jackie Bird Syndrom,not life threatening well not yet anyway. More of a cold sweat and nightmare complaint. The cure, plenty of rest and fluids and the complete avoidance of anything remotely associated with Jackie Bird.  

Friends and readers. Our associate Helen has reported to us that while she was walking her dog this morning [Sunday] in West Pilton Park close to the Housing office in West Pilton Gardens,there was a group of young men hovering round a City Council Vehicle in the car park. Helen told us that shouting and swearing was taking place amongst this group.

This is strange indeed. If this was behaviour by city employees then it is totally unacceptable and action has to be taken immediatly to find the culprits. Helen tells us it was a white Transit type van with seating throughout and she counted 5 people in all.

We understand the Housing Department is closed on a Sunday so it is unlikely to have been Housing staff. We ask any of the residents of West Pilton Gardens who may have witnessed this behaviour to come forward and let us know what you seen or heard. Pilton Sucks will investigate this matter,we have a good idea who it was but we will gather more information before we report the matter to the department concerned. 

We understand from a local activist in the Muirhouse side of the Community that this is not the first time such behaviour has taken place. It seems from the information we have to hand that a well known community activist formally complained some time ago about unruley behaviour outside the housing office amoungst groups of young people.

It would seem that no action has been taken to deal with this behaviour and the activist tells us that she had informed her councillor about the matter. Members of the public frequently use this office and intimidating behaviour by anybody is not acceptable.

Pilton Sucks will inform Drylaw Police Station and seek their advice.

Friends and readers. We hear a rumour unconfirmed of course,that the proposed new community centre for Royston Wardieburn is under threat. Being the suspicious lot that we are Pilton Sucks has a theory about all this.

Could it be that the land that the centre now stands on is already sold so any possible refurb of the centre is off the agenda and any new centre will just be a pale shadow of what has been proposed. If any of the centre’s management committee would care to comment feel free,as you may be getting sold down the river on a wing and a prayer.

Pilton Sucks has already found out that monies earmarked from the community regeneration fund for the new centre has been spent elsewhere and we would like to know by whose authority this was done and who else was in the know[as if we did not already know] The rumours of being sold out are growing stronger,and we sincerly hope that this is not true.

Pilton Sucks is now asking for an investigation into the missing money and those responsible to be named and shamed,and removed from any positions they may hold.We would remind readers that if anything dodgy has gone on behind their backs they have the right to hold the culprits accountable. Pilton Sucks would also like to point out that this all took place under the previous Council administration.

Once again friends and readers the utility companies are hiking up the cost of heating and lighting your homes. And once again the Government stands back and does nothing. Their last answer was to change your supplier,at best that was a weak responce and the utility companies have stuck two fingers up to the peoples Government.

The cost of privatisation is there for all to see as these greedy leeches try to line their own pockets on the backs of the weakest and poorest. These are the real victims of greed who will suffer dearly for the shareholders dividends. While the Government sits on it’s fat ass with Prime Minister Brown seemingly powerless to do anything except try and make himself look good and in control which he certainly is not. He seems frozen[no pun intended] and totally at a loss on what to do, giving the class clown Cameron the opportunity to further attack the most vunerable with his latest brain wave on benifit claiments.

Instead of attacking the weakest or in Brown’s case a do nothing approach, a concerted attack on greed and profiteering by the utility companies would be more like it,but neither of these lame duck politicians want to upset their friends in the city,so they give a green light to those greedy bastards who run these utility companies to attack the people who most need support and protection. 

Make no mistake this is a very serious life and death situation,and there will be many people in communities all over the country unable to afford to heat their homes leaving themselves open to potential life threatening situations. The people of our nation are constantly asked to dig deeper into their pockets to pay for the priviledge of living here. We are taxed on almost everything,we cannot breath for the laws that are put in front of us and still we have to try and find more to continue to live.

If you cannot keep up your mortage payments your house may well be taken from you. If you cannot keep up with your local taxes your possessions will be taken from you. And just to add cream on the cake if you cannot pay your fuel bills then you may well be cut off. This is the reality of Brown’s Britain fuck the poor and keep in with the kids in the city,wouldn’t want to upset the bankers or their friends.

There are thousands living on the breadline in this country,and the Government dispite all their con tricks don’t give a shit while the Eton toff and hater of the poor Cameron wants to crucify all benifit claiments,nothing new for the Torries just a different slant on it. The Government have done little or nothing about the housing situation,plenty of hot air but no action. So what to do ,why of course hammer the most vunerable in our society grab a few cheap headlines and do fuckall else.

Very soon the winter fuel bills will be popping through your letter boxes with the threatening over tones of, this bill is payable immediatly. Just for a second imagine someone unable to pay and the sheer fear that overcomes them. Your Government dosen’t give a toss they have already proven that by their do nothing attitude,so the utility companies can do what they like to you,and believe it they will.

What kind of a nation do we live in that allows people to suffer because they cannot afford to pay the ludicrous cost of living in this country. We elect politicians locally and nationally to protect and look after our interests, have they done that? What do you think.

Hello friends and readers,and welcome to the new year. We wonder what goodies are in store for us all but you can be sure Pilton Sucks will be on the case. George is back from his short break in Spain[a three day no frills fun filled jolly] and he has told Pilton Sucks that he has received an e-mail from a suprising source concerning workplace bullying.

We do not as yet have all the details but George tells us that the e-mail he received came from a senior member of staff within the Health and Social Care department. What we know is that George is authenticating the source,because in his words it contains dynamite information which crosses all the T,s and dot,s all the I,s.

What we can say at this stage is that part of the e-mail details an incident with a former employee. This former employee whose name is John was a direct victim of covert workplace bullying,which resulted in John losing his job. Yes the victim lost his job and the bully walked away. It now seems that after all this time the senior member of staff has in his own words been a prisoner of conscience to long,the clue is in the word prisoner.

There is George tells us there is much more detail,to much for it to be made up. This e-mail was sent from an internet cafe as the member of staff did not want to be identified,but there are a number of indicators to say who it might have been.

This turn of events further strengthens our conviction that more people than we first thought knew about workplace bullying,but were afraid for what ever reason to come forward,this fear now seems to be diminishing. We will return to you when we have authenticated this correspondence.
