Cracker Jack

Friends and readers. So the playboys paradise of sand and glass Dubia has gone bust, owing about 80 billion bucks give or take a pound or two. And who do you think made a large investment there? why our old friends and now business partners RBS.

Yes dear friends the taxpayers favourite bank chucked money at this quick sand development to the tune of nearly 3 billion pounds. Now they have lost the lot and may come back to the taxpayers with their begging bowl asking for more.  Another wonderful brilliantly managed investment which went belly up and you did not need to be a genius to figure that one out.

A oasis in the desert is how Dubia was refered to only this oasis ran out of water pretty quick before the investers could get a drink. Now it may well become a ghost town with the eerie sounds of the skeletons of bankers waving wads of suckers money at this Las Vegas in the Middle East. The big gamble just didn’t pay off and the unlucky punters are joe taxpayer.

This oasis in the desert was doomed to failure built on a mountain of debt and crossed fingers, where a minor blip in the economic cycle could make things difficult, only this blip was a bit more than minor and swept through Dubia like a tornado. Once again greed played a part in all this with eyes bigger that stomachs and the thought of a quick buck on the backs of cheap labour.

Now it’s all gone gobbled up in the sand storm that hit this monument to decadence and bad taste. It’s possible though that this dimming jewel could be used for a reality game show, how about i’m a  banker[yes it is spelt correctly] get me out of here.

Gold Dust

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Friends and readers. What is it that can put a smile on your face. An open ended question with the answers to be filled in by the reader. Pilton Sucks asks this question for a good reason, it’s in these days of thunder that we live in that a smile can be like gold dust sprinkled around others who will pick on it and smile to.

Someone once said what would you lovebirds like and the gold dust is sprinkled around once again. Spreading a little happiness is very catching and has a domino effect, and isn’t that just about the best thing available and it’s free. So as once was the suitcase filled and trapped the happiness within, as the suitcase is emptied the happiness is let out and spread around.

As the conversation has laughter within it the youthful cries of the children to tired to sleep can be heard from the room above as if they to wish to join in the laughter and smiles. The contented child the caring mother the guests who relax in the warmth of a loving home all together in a moment of sheer contentment is there anything better or worth more.

This is the world at it’s best where the cup holds not only coffee but the realisation that this is what’s it all about a room full of happiness and contentment bonded by a belief that hope springs eternal. You can search all of your life and never find it but there in a flash it is all there before you and the penny drops this is the gold dust and we are the sprinklers, it may have taken a while but in the most unlikely of places there it was in abundance.

Roll Of The Dice

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Friends and readers. The concequence of doing nothing about domestic violence allows the perpetrator to control the thinking of the victim. the culture of blame can come into play with the victim almost in some strange way convinced they have played a part in these deeds of evil.

Many confused thoughts can come into the victims head, but the only thought they should have is they are the doormat that is being walked on. It can be understandably difficult to take that step to end the cycle of abuse particularly if children are involved, but it is that step that must eventually be taken if the abuse is to be brought to an end.

The chapters of your life that make up the book of abuse can be put away on a shelf to forever gather dust as the memory begins to fade of a life spent in fear not knowing what was coming next and living in perpetual darkness hidden behind closed doors. Open the doors and the light comes in offering up hope of better days to come and happier times to live them in.

Domestic abuse not only effects the victim who is the direct target of these cowardly thugs but their entire family who are seemingly powerless to end this violence as the abuser continually stalks his victim and causes this living nightmare. What must they think and feel as they watch one of their own live this terrible ordeal. One can only imagine their thoughts as they live through it as well.

The ending of this senseless cycle of violence brings peace to an entire family and then they to can begin to live normal lives. And it’s the normality of life that is the ultimate goal a normality that is a right not a gift, but in this world of domestic violence we will take the gift and open it up for a grateful family and a victim relieved.

Songbird

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Friends and readers. During these dark cold nights what spurs you to think of warmer moments. Could it be the time you never thought you could be so happy and that it might never have come your way, but did. You the reader will alone know of that.

A glance of what could be and what it is, in reality the simple life,  a destiny, and a journey made in the knowledge that eyes were opened and hands were clasped in a togetherness that was meant to be. The songbird keeps singing out and all that matters is the words to the tune.

The future will take care of itself as the seeds are sown to lay the path that the songbird has trodden many times before. The out of season restaurant the rainy streets the warm welcoming fire and the hidden fruity mixture from a bottle comprising to make the world seem a better place and your spot in it.

The songbird sings the tune of serenity matched by the ambiance of the time and place. These cold dark nights can indeed conjure up some warmer moments.

The Rising Storm

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Friends and readers. Today was the international day against domestic violence. Somewhere tonight a victim of this dreadful behaviour may be whispering the 23rd Psalm in a hope of ridding herself of this hideous crime.

Pilgrims and prodigals one and all must get behind a national campaign to out these criminals name and shame them force public humiliation and an automatic custodial sentence be imposed. These thugs should also be put on a register and not allowed near women until the state deems suitable, any form of contact must be punished with further santions which would include a further jail term.

None of us must stand silently by and watch others suffer this dreadful physical and emotional abuse, not one of us are ridding to utopia where the road map say’s we will be arriving soon, and we can quitely turn our backs and pretend ignorance. Nobody absolutly nobody has the right to abuse another and the law must reflect this fact.

Pilton Sucks is all to aware of the problem and you can believe us when we say we will name names of abusers and their addresses and inform their employers Pilton sucks will take you out of the game and make you suffer the way you have made another suffer.

Make no mistake we mean it and we will do it don’t think for a moment we won’t. Pilton Sucks will not stand by and watch abuse of any kind taking place. Domestic abuse is disgusting and abhorant and we will take a stand, and with all the power we have which is not inconsiderable we in our own way will bring this horror into the public eye.

The ignorance of those that resort to this type of behaviour is beyond reason to call them animals is an insult to the animal kingdom, they are monsters who prey on and stalk their victim, nowadays these morons can abuse by text causing the victim to live in fear. We are angry very angry and we will take our anger out on these perpetrators of abuse.

Pilton Sucks brought to the public eye the evils of workplace bullying and the trauma the victims suffered as a result of this crime, our campaign went nationwide and received critical aclaim helping to raise awareness of this workplace evil.

In the very same way we will now turn our attention to domestic violence and abuse. And we offer this promise, Pilton Sucks will break into this hidden world and open it up to the public eye. We reported to you that ROSS COCHRAN a convicted abuser will be sentenced to a jail term shortly, we hope the sentence reflects the crime.

Here in North Edinburgh we have our fingers on the pulse and if the police are notified about any abusers at work in this Community, you can bet we will know as well, and again we remind you if you are abusing any of the members of our Community look out we will be on to you and you will feel the wrath of Pilton Sucks with full force, there will be no escape we will hound you as you hound your victim, the big difference being that we fight back stronger than you can.

These spinless cowardly nothings are an afront to all that is decent, they can destroy what is good to satisfy their own sickly selfs. So beware be very aware there will be no hiding place for you no-where to go that others won’t know what a sad cowardly sick individual you are, we will make you wish you were not born

Once again Pilton Sucks warns you.

In The Heat Of the Night

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Friends and readers. Sometimes it’s difficult even for Pilton Sucks to put things into words as circumstances can dictate what is or can be said.

But never mind that dear friends we will do our best in this case to make the words fit the bill. Sometimes in life we all need to cross bridges of one sort or another to get to the other side, and sometimes these bridges can offer up obstacles which need to be dealt with.

The faith in believing that these bridges and their obstacles can be crossed will overcome the doubts about their ability to take your weight and it is with this faith and belief that we set about making the crossing and getting to the other side. Look ahead and never back for what is behind is what you have crossed to get there. The stormy waters beneath are exactly that, beneath but the bridge will hold up and the other side will be reached.

The path beyond is were the calm begins as the bridge the obstacles and the stormy waters fade into the distance and daylight starts to shine through. If you want something bad enough the bridge will always have to be crossed and the obstacles breached, this is the way it’s meant to be you will know that before you cross it, and as you reach out into the darkness of the night you will find the hand that guides you through the dark.

To Feed Or Not To Feed

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Friends and readers. As we approach the time of year when we do the most stupidest of things and eat far to much, and indeed spend beyond our means, the real spirit of Christmas is left far behind and it would seem forgotton.

And yet as we get ready to do whatever we do over the festive period many people in this country and on shores afar, will simply struggle to get by. This is not an attempt to party poop this is stark reality in todays world. For them it is not a matter of opening gifts or sitting down to a family lunch more survival in a cruel world dominated by the advertisers who paint a picture of serenity which you can only have if you buy this or that.

Even here in our own fair city the shops were gearing up for the Xmas bonanza in September a tad obcene we think. While fights rage in other parts of the world and the ordinary innocent civilians suffer and become refugees in their own lands we watch the monarchs speech from her comfortable council house as she patronises her subjects surrounded by splendour and flunkies.

Every minute of the festive period someone will die of starvation in a world of plenty, not for them turkey and trimmings, crumbs of comfort if they are lucky. We will throw away over the period enough food to feed thousands yet in our fight to enjoy it all few thoughts will be given to the children who will have nothing but misery this Christmas.

This is not a plea to forgo all the delights of the festive period far from it more a tale of reality, which exists on the same planet we all inhabit. We want our children to enjoy all that Santa brings them of course we do and to share it with the ones we love that to, but in the recesses of our hearts think of those who have not the will or wherefor to enjoy even the basic life requirements, and whose suffering we could not begin to contemplate.

Yes this is the time to celebrate and relax after what has been a terrible year for many, and we ask you to stop just for a brief moment in your celebrations and silently pray if you so choose,  to feed all who need fed and to clothe all who need clothed and to remember that there go I for the grace of God.

Twilight In Mozambique

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Friends and readers. The cradle of life we are told is Africa, and there is a school of thought that say’s all life started there. That indeed may have some credence, depending on your viewpoint, but if not it need not matter, as more importantly is what can we do with the life we have.

We explore our past excavating relics of old to try and understand how peoples in the past lived, what they built and achieved, how their civilisations evolved and what happened to them. Puzzles remain unsolved, did the continent of Atlantis exist and if it did what happened. Was it the big bang theory that brought our solar system and planet into existance.

These and more have caused great debate amongst the experts over the piece and still do. But does it really matter, yes it’s interesting, and has provided much to write  and speculate about, and no doubt in another millenium  someone somewhere will unearth an Ipod and wonder what the hell it was used for.

We are for all intense purposes  children of our time, a time in which we have discovered much and learned many things, some of which have been put to good use and others not so good. But as we look at our lives today and marvel or wonder at the paths we follow and the strange twists of fate that can lead us off into destinations unknown, is it really any different from the paths that out fore fathers trod centuries ago.

We may be faster in getting there better technology to do it but has society changed all that much, it’s an interesting debate, and when looked a little closer at it seems the differences are in the opinions. We live longer that’s for sure our ways of getting around are quicker, but in the greater scheme of things are our desires and requiements any different.

We strive to achieve sometimes in vain but still we soldier on. Life is lived at a furious pace with little time taken to sit quitely on a sofa somewhere and talk to each other perhaps over a cup of coffee, and when we do it can be very pleasurable. This little moment could be the real cradle of life and make the search for lost continents seem so very trivial.

If anyone has ever seen seen the twilight in Mozambique and the beauty of the darkening landscape you would say this may well be were life started, but on the other hand sitting on a sofa chatting with a cup of coffee may well have the upper hand.

Nil By Mouth

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Friends and readers. Todays pain in society is not just the fact that human greed has caused us all to feel the icy wind of economic slowdown and the fallout that has followed, for human greed is nothing new, wars have been fought over it millions have died for it and still the lessons are never learned, as those that cannot satisfy their insatiable greed decide  to much is never enough.

The pain we have all suffered and will continue to suffer is the legacy that this way of life handed down to us from many centuries back, you might even say from the beginning of time has become the norm and is the code that the masses have been forced to live with. Poverty has been with us for ever as has wealth and privilege this is the great divide which has never been bridged.

The storms of revolution both violent and non violent have merely scratched the surface with normal service being resumed shortly after to suit those that gained power having used the masses to get it. No-where in history has real change ever come about lead by those that were oppresed, quite the opposite tyranny and dictitorial Government have often followed revolution lead by the educated classes frustrated that their voice was not being listened to.

But they could not do it by themselves and needed the power of the plebians, so the educated minority fought to the last drop of the plebians blood and then when gaining power percecuted those they used to get it.

Fast forward to modern day society and we have the new weapon of democracy which promises fair play and a voice for all, brave words indeed but democracy for who, certainly not the poor, for them democracy is just a word used by the ruling elite to keep power and wealth in the hands of the few. It’s hard to come up with a real answer to what’s fair as the power of the state is lined up against you to defy any real move to adapt society into a more socio economic level playing field.

The so called credit crunch has brought sharply into focus exactly how our society has been goverened over many years. Decisions that affected many were taken by the few whose own self interest lay at the heart of any decision taken and sucessive governments went along with that simply because it was to awkward to do anything about it, and in reality it was beyond their ability to do anything as the real power lay with an establisment that had  captured power centuries ago and had cemented it ever since.

And what happens when the established power gets into bother, government comes to the rescue and plunges the masses into an economic winter, that’s the price the majority pay for the minority to continue to live in the style that we have paid for them to have. Just look around and see exactly what has befallen this nation and who are the big loosers, they are not hard to find, but try to extract anything from those that took us into this position and they are a little more difficult to bring to heel.

The power to rule was given away a long time ago and handed to faceless spinless nonentities who basked in the priviledge of being born into the ruling elite, and took for granted their place in society. They had their own educational institutes which helped smooth a path into the ruling society, inherited titles,  inherited lands won through the brutality of others hung on to by laws they created to protect their plunder. The opiate of the people was to pacify them with tit bits and hope that kept them quite, and in the main it did.

What is clear now is the great divide between the ruling elite and those the masses elect to govern them. It dosen’t matter who governs the country nothing stops the established power retaining control. The millions of pounds we the people pumped into the banks to keep power in the hands of the few is mere window dressing, nothing will change, no sea change will take place in real terms for the power is not in the money pumped in, it’s the control of that money and who benefits.

For those that are born into power and privilege, nothing changes and nothing ever will, for those born into a world that is based on who has what it’s a game of chance, that dear friends is democracy

Calling Card

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Friends and readers. At this very moment someone somewhere is thinking about what to do next. On what particular subject dosen’t really matter to much except to the to the people thinking it. Could be a work issue, family issue personal issue whatever it is the answer is there somewhere just needs a little more thought.

Which leads us to an interesting thought, what if two people were thinking the same thing at the same time and coming up with the same answers. Must happen all the time and indeed makes the answers easier to find. Curious then the subject matter, not of course for us to speculate, but in the midst of all that goes on around about us daily to stop and think is a pleasure indeed and maybe we should all do more of that and allow time for personal thoughts.

In fact if they are nice personal thoughts it could have a very good effect on the rest of your daily life, it could even make you look at life differently and the people you know or work alongside.

The benefits are all to clear to see, stuff that may have bothered you before might have a tendency to bounce off you a little more as your shield of pleasant thoughts circle round you. This in effect has a positive effect on those round about you who may find it infectious and decide life ain’t so bad after all.

The calling card you leave others in your daily life can dramatically change their outlook and your own. So the next time you have pleasant warm thoughts just think how you brighten up the place all around you and make life so much more bearable.
