Samson And Delilah
Friends and readers. We all know the story, or should do. Samsons hair gave him his strenght then up pops Delilah one night when he’s sleeping cuts off his hair and bingo Samsons strength is gone, and the rest, well as they say is history depending on which version you believe.
But Pilton Sucks has another angle on it as there appears to be more than one story in this legend, which can be transplanted to modern times. Our Heroine in all this Delilah if you follow the story line whose scissors appear to be razor sharp and at the ready when required is duped into believing that Samson is the root of all evil, clearly she didn’t read the small print and what follows is of course the victory of good over not so good.
Now dear friends having managed to grasp that simple theme our pal Samson wanders into the 21st century by accident only this time Delilah arrives in the form of state sponsored deceit. The money changers long since thrown out of the temple by you know who have taken up residency as respectable wardens of the nations cash. They still are up to their old tricks but under a cloak of decency, and Delilah is more than happy to jump into bed beside them, offering all sorts of goodies including turning a blind eye and removing a few of the regulations that keep them in check.
Poor old Samson plods along on his merry way thinking that Delilah is in there pitching for him and looking after his interests. But alas no the dasterdly Delilah has her eyes on the prize of blind greed offering the money changers huge incentives to carry on in their devilish ways and bringing about the distinct possibility of financial armageddon.
Samsons hair starts to fall out all by itself no scissors required and he dosen’t have to bother destroying all around him in a bid to combat evil, his better half Delilah is doing quite nicely on her own thank you very much. Having realised but blinded by greed that the money changers have brought the country to the brink draws back pleads innocence of any knowledge of wrong doing and robs the citizens of their hard earned in order to prop up the money changers new temples.
Samson is now at his weakest and Delilah tries to repent and say there was nothing else she could have done, as she had no prior knowledge of any dodgy dealing that was taking place. She tries to replace his hair but to no avail it has to grow back and that will take time. Mean while the country sinks further into the mire and Delilahs bed fellows carry on regardless once more paying themselves large wads of this time taxpayers dosh, while the plebs that carried out their bidding feel the full wrath of Delilahs actions.
Delilah and her money changing friends regard the robbing of the taxpayers as just and prudent at a time that Samson is weak and frail and requires help which is not forth coming. Samson and his fellow citizens are cast aside and told to fend for themselves while the money changers shore up their temples with citizens cash.
Delilahs scissors are now well and truely blunt and she has no cash for new ones, so what does our enterprising Delilah do, well dear friends she asks her pals in their shored up temples to lend her the money to buy new scissors, not to cut hair but to further cut into the citizens quality of life. Of course the money changers are very reluctant to lend Delilah anything as they watch the taxpayers cash roll in.
Delilah who by now is a weak as Samson refuses to demand that the money changers lend the taxpayer their own money back so she postures and makes all the right noises but nothing happens while the people begin to realise that they are being conned and loud murmers of discontent can be heard throughout the realm.
But what of our friend Samson can he come to the rescue and do what his pal done and chuck the money changers out of their temples. No afraid not Delilah has seen to that. But hold on a minute another Samson is appearing on the horizon, and through the dark mist we hear the stomping of democracy coming our way and a chance to throw these vagabonds over the cliff.
Ah but dear friends and there is as you know always a but, if or when a new lot take up the reins of power will they combat the money changers or will they just be Delilah again this time in a blue dress with even sharper scissors.
