Power Over People

Friends and readers the serial bully is able to exert a hold over people for a variety of reasons

Targets are disempowered such that they become dependent on the bully to allow them to get through each day without their life being made hell,as in the case of the victims of the MUIRHOUSE BULLY.

The serial bully is often able to bewitch an emotionally needy colleague into supporting them as in the case of the MUIRHOUSE BULLY’S assistant. This person then becomes the bullys spokesperson and advocate. How people can be so easily and repeatedly taken in by the bullys glib charm, Jekyll and Hyde nature and constant lying is a mystery. Psychopaths are especially adept at conning people in this manner.

The serial bully such as the MUIRHOUSE BULLY is an adult on the outside but a child on the inside, he in this case is like a child who has never grown up. One suspects that the bully is emotionally retarded and has a level of emotional development equivalent to a five-year-old or less.

The bully wants to enjoy the benifits of living in the adult world, but is unable and unwilling to accept the responsibilities that go with enjoying the benefits ot the adult world. In short, the bully has never learnt to accept responsibilty for their behaviour.

It is estimated one person in thirty, male or female is a serial bully. Who does the following profile describe in your life.

The serial bully is a convincing, practised liar and when called to account, will make up anything spontaneously to fit their needs at that moment, has a JEKYLL AND HYDE NATURE, is vile, vicious and vindictive in private, but innocent and charming in front of witnesses, no-one can[or wants to]believe this individual has a vindictive nature-only the current target of the serial bullys aggression sees both sides, whilst the Jekyll side is described as charming and convincing enough to deceive personnel, management and a tribunal, the hyde side is frequently described as EVIL, hyde is the real person, Jekyll is an act.

Excels at DECEPTION and should never be underestimated in their capacity to deceive.-uses excessive CHARM and is always plausible and convincing when peers, superiors or others are present, is GLIB SHALLOW AND SUPERFICIAL with plenty of fine words and lots of form - but there is no substance. Is possessed of an EXCEPTIONAL VERBAL FACILITY and will outmanoeuvre most people on verbal interaction, especially at times of conflict.

Is often described as SMOOTH, SLIPPERY, SLIMY, INGRATIATING, FAWNING, TOADYING, OBSEQUIOUS, SYCOPHANTIC. Is convinced of their SUPERIOITY and has an OVERBEARING BELIEF IN THEIR QUALITIES OF LEADERSHIP but cannot distinguish between leadership [maturity, decisiveness, assertiveness, co-operation, trust, integrity] and bullying[immaturity, impulsiveness, agression, manipulation, distrust, deceitfulness]

KNOWS THE WORDS BUT NOT THE SONG - sometimes DISPLAYES A SEEMINGLY LIMITLESS DEMONIC ENERGY especially when engaged in attention-seeking activities or evasion of accountability and is often a COMMITTEEAHOLIC or apparent WORKAHOLIC.

The serial bully appears to lack insight into his or her behaviour and seems to be oblivious to the crassness and inappropriateness thereof, however it is more likely that the bully knows what they are doing but elects to switch off the moral and ethical considerations by which normal people are bound.

If the bully knows what they are doing they are responsible for their behaviour and thus liable for its consequences to other people. If the bully does not know what they are doing they should be suspended from duty on the grounds of diminished responsibilty and the provisions of the mental health act should apply,

This Friends and readers will be to those that read this and have suffered bullying, as in our own community the MUIRHOUSE TWO will recognise the person we are describing.  The MUIRHOUSE BULLY is not alone there are more of these horrible people out there only to willing to flex their vileness on to other unsuspecting victims. Pilton Sucks.Com is actively fighting workplace bullying, we are at the moment working to bring the MUIRHOUSE BULLY to justice, and we will, with the help of others who are of a similar mind.

We must rid our communitys of bullies for they offer nothing but pain for those who choose to cross them -just ask THE MUIRHOUSE TWO. We will continue to chase the MUIRHOUSE BULLY and force him out into the open and then Social Work Management will have to take action.

 

Dodgy Business

Readers and Friends. Your friend and mine Derek ‘dodgy’ Suttie - thats based at the Prentice Centre, is trying to gag staff by getting the union to forbid staff from using work computers so by in his tiny imagination, protect His drinking buddy Mike Rosendale.

Fortunately the union told him were to get off. His belief in his own self-importance was certainly not justified. Community Education is like social work, rotten to the core and full of spineless gutless wonders. Suttie is just another one ass-licking, crawling, small individuals, unfortunately we have to bear him in this community.

The dodgy Suttie should look at his own track record, particularly when he was the worker at Royston Wardieburn Community Centre. When he did put in an appearance, which was not to often, you would know he was coming because the smell of alcohol arrived first. This habit was covered up, but like any other council employee who is a crawler or a bully they are looked upon with favour. Just ask the Muirhouse bully, that sleazy character is still practicing his trade, and why, simple really, his wee legs can just be spotted coming out of the backsides of his management friends.

So it seems, if like Mr. ‘dodgy’ Suttie and the Muirhouse bully, you creep, crawl, lie, and cheat then the council is your oyster. Are these the kind of brain dead morons you want employed by the council on your behalf? We think not!

Next time you pass Mr. ‘dodgy’ Suttie in the street or more likely, catch him in a bar, ask him how he can justify trying to gag staff just to protect another crook from being found out.

Institutionalised Bullying

Friends and Readers.We have all read in the press or seen on our televisions reports of institutionalised racism within public bodies, and the constant denials of the various spokes persons who come forward.

We now know that institutionalised bullying is alive and well and thriving in the Social Work Department.We have highlighted the case of the Muirhouse bully and the blatent cover up going on there, that stretches right up the food chain, we have also highlighted the fact that the local elected members , Fitkpatrick, Hinds, and Maginnis have at this present time said nothing on the subject, and by doing this encourage the bullying to continue.

Our source in the Muirhouse Social Work centre told us on Monday 20-3-06 in a lenghty telephone conversation that the full extent of the bullying had still to come out, and that one of the MUIRHOUSE TWO had been subjected to what she called bullying of a violent nature, we asked her tell us exactly what she meant. She went on to tell us that the bullying she had witnessed had become so bad and intense that it was violent in its delivery.

We were also told and this is new information that the Muirhouse bully was assisted by his deputy in the destruction of this individual, our source told us that on a regular basis, almost daily the Muirhouse bully and his sidekick (we have his name) would go out of their way to bully and humiliate their victim and they did not care who knew it such was their arrogance. Our source also told us that she often discussed it with her colleagues, and felt something had to be done to protect this member of staff.

She said “We all knew what was going on the two of them just constantly picked on him and it was an unhappy place to work.” She went on “I discussed it with colleagues at West Pilton Gardens Social Work Centre but some of them already knew and were aware of the growing problem.”

PiltonSucks.com are not suprised that the bullying was known about else where and are indeed not suprised that nothing was done to help this individual who was under a continual barrage of abuse from not one but two spiteful individuals. We are also not suprised to learn that the bully’s assistant has been given another post of a similar nature in Midlothian.  We hope they know what a small minded individual they are getting, and if they want to contact us we will happily furnish them with what we know and can prove.

So now we know bullying carries rewards you might even be promoted, thought more of, be popular amongst your fellow bullies,but wait on this is far from over, we at Pilton Sucks.com will contact individualy the three local councillors concerned Fitzpatrick, Hinds, and Maginnis to inform them of what we know, and will await with interest their views.

But we at PiltonSucks.com will not be bullied by small minded characters such as they have at Muirhouse Social Work Centre, we want these individuals stopped and punished for their vile actions against another human being and we do not forget there is another victim in this travesty.

But we are all victims if we sit back and do nothing, for if nothing is done then bullies will carry on backed by their spineless managers, too gutless to do anything about it.  The community of Greater Pilton were these two gutless wonders practice their trade do not want bullies in their area   We have enough social problems without two outsiders coming in to throw their weight around because they do not have the level of intelligence to know any better.

These are sad individuals who have to bully to show how much authority they have got, in reality they have none and even less respect. So as they go about their daily business just remember your colleagues know what you are, they might not say it but they know, and they know who the MUIRHOUSE TWO are, and we will continue to pursue bullies in our community

If the Social Work Department continues to be silent on this matter and have a do nothing policy, PiltonSucks.com will force the issue.  We want the Muirhouse bully and his so-called assistant punished for there sins against a fellow member of staff in fact both members of staff who they have injured - who knows there might be more-there probably is.

We will continue to hound the Muirhouse Bully- we wonder how he likes it- we have a moral duty to make public, what they would hide from you and tell you does not exist. But all who have experienced it and all who have witnessed it, know bullying is alive and kicking and built with the bricks.

Have Bully, Will Travel

bullying.gifFriends and readers we have received communication from another social work centre namely Captains Road social work centre. They too are aware of the Muirhouse bully and know who he is, and staff from the criminal justice section have told us that he is trying to spread his message there to.  It would seem that he is able to force his will on to his fellow manager at said centre and get him to introduce draconian measures designed it would seem to upset the workers and place them under strain, they to then will receive a little of what the MUIRHOUSE TWO had to put up with.

We would suggest that a grievance be taken out as a way of making their feelings public, do it as a group so you cannot be picked off as individuals as the MUIRHOUSE TWO were.

Once more the bully is trying to make his presence felt there seems to be no stopping him, undoubtably this is due to weak management above him who turn a blind eye so to avoid the truth of what is going on. But the bonus of all this if we can call it that, is more people hopefully should come forward and complain about the way they are being treated, in the main by managers unqualified to be there in the first place, and only there through a flawed system. It would be interesting to know how many of these, we believe they are called community service officers have direct criminal justice qualifications and are not just trades people in a former life.

The Muirhouse bully has been shown to be unable to manage people in a humane way, only able to manage through bullying and threats, not a positive way to get the best out of staff. But as long as he gets away with it the more he will think he is right typical serial bully sindrom.

So the members of staff who got in contact with us have our full support and we will continue to publish the facts on bullying. Unfortunatly you may well be receiving or about to receive treatment similar to the MUIRHOUSE TWO do not let it happen nip it in the bud, contact your union right away, if you have a criminal justice rep speak to them with out delay. Any delay will cost you dear , if you have any doubts about that just look what happened to the MUIRHOUSE TWO.

We at PiltonSucks.com are as you must be angry that bullying is coming your way, although it is through the back door at the moment, it will soon come calling at the front door. Do not let the grim reaper of bullying gain entrance it will only do you harm.  Bullies all through history have been exspansionists and the Muirhouse bully is no different, he will try to bring his damaged mentality to you and if he shoud suceed you will have a problem identical to that which is currently being suffered by the MUIRHOUSE TWO.      

The Sleeper Awakes

Friends and Readers it would seem if the Evening News is to be believed that the counci is waking up to the fact that they have a massive problem with bullying. The rev councillor ewan aitken has spoken and like the sermon on the mount only less eloquent has told us what we have known for some time that bullying exists.

We know that what are you going to do about it.We at Pilton Sucks.com have highlighted the problem of the MUIRHOUSE TWO and the bullying they suffered, if the councillor is serious then why is the Muirhouse bully still in post when the evidence against him is substancial and the practice at Muirhouse social Work centre warrents an outside investigation not an internal assessment, he shoud be concerned about the cover up that is going on, to deflect away any blame on the bully, why when so many people know who he is that the council do nothing, he is well known for his behaviour outside in the community treating people as though it was something he stepped in

We at Pilton Sucks.com will happily let the councillor have the evidence, we also have access to taped evidence where the bully is clearly heard verbally abusing a member of staff on more than one occassion. So there is nothing to stop you asking for a full outside investigation into the dreadful events at Muirhouse which have left two members of staff out in the cold and being made to feel they are guilty not the Muirhouse bully.

So far we have had nothing from the social work department about the MUIRHOUSE TWO or anybody else who has suffered bullying in the workplace, but we would like to remind the muirhouse bully -WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE and so do many others,you will not get away for ever no matter how much your managers cover up for you, you may have pulled the wool over their eyes but you will not fool us, you will be punished for your dreadful behaviour and rightly so.

You might be confident in your web of lies but you will trip up after all you are a serial bully and you cannot stop it is not in your nature, if you cannot bully your own staff because you are being watched you will try and bully elsewhere, but we are watching you and you will be found out others will come to realise the truth and support the MUIRHOUSE TWO they had the courage to come forward and it may well we hope open the floodgates for other victims to come forward.

Pilton Sucks.com is asking if there is anybody else out there and we know for sure there is who has had a run in with the muirhouse bully to come forward and tell your story, do not be afraid the MUIRHOUSE TWO lead the way they have brought what has been known for a long time out into the open they cannot be deserted, they have to be supported, we as a society cannot and must not tolerate workplace bullying we have to out these bullys and remove them so they can never again harm anybody.

We detest bullying as most people do we want the bullys shown the error of their ways and made at the very least to compensate their victims in some way. We hope the muirhouse bullys days are numbered, the pressure will mount for a full investigation into the events surrounding the MUIRHOUSE TWO the bully must be brought to account for his actions. REMEMBER WE ARE WATCHING.  

The Experts View on Bullying

bullying.gifFriends and readers. As you know we at PiltonSucks.com are running an anti-bullying in the work place campaign. To that end we arranged to sit down with an expert in that field to get an insight into the state of mind of a victim of bullying.  Here is an eye opening insight into what we found out.

We spoke to Anna about her experiences of dealing with victims of workplace bullying and she agreed to give us an overview of some of the problems.

Anna told us that the victims reactions come in different forms but the most common link between them is that they perceive they have been the problem such was the effect bullying had on them.  Victims felt guilty about being bullied and also had a feeling of isolation, that nobody cared and life had become meaningless.

This she said was because they had been a single target and all the bully’s energy had gone into bullying them. Once she got them to open out it was pointed out to them that this in fact is a normal reaction and that the bully deliberatly set out to achieve this, belittleing them sometimes in front of colleagues other times when they were on their own but the agenda was the same maximum damage to the victim.

Usually she would meet the victim after they had visited their G.P. who had refered them.  The victim may be suffering from stress and/or depression and may even feel suicidal, such was the effect of long term bullying. The G.P may have also precribed a course of medication which could in a lot of cases last up to six months. She would see the victim possibly once a fortnight to council them and try to get the victim to open up and relate to her their experience. This can often be difficult as it has been a traumatic experience and the victim can easily retreat into themselves.

She told us that she would try to get her patient to lead a normal a life as possible telling them not to hide away but to continue onas per usual. This she said honestly was easier said than done. She recalled one patient who liked sport but was afraid to go outside the house, she encouraged him to carry on and not to let the depression get a hold, the medication would help and they did not have victim of bullying printed on their forehead.

It is difficult for other people who have no experienced bullying to comprehend just what kind of effect it has on victims and how it can change their whole perception of life. What once might have been a happy go lucky person was now a shadow of that and life would have to be rebuilt.

She went on to tell us that employers have to recognise that bullying is a real problem and deal with it head on, much of the material we have already posted on this site. Anna felt that employers were only to keen to blame the victim as this was the easier option and this meant not having to confront the bully who was probably a colleague of theirs.  Nevertheless it had to be dealt with before an explosion occured and somebody died as a direct result of bullying. Certainly there have been deaths where bullying was suspected but never proved, so she felt government had to step in to ram home the message that bullying in any form was unacceptable and would be dealt with severely.

bully.jpgThere are many myths surrounding bullying, including the perception that it is tough management and you have to be a bully to get the job done.  However, research shows that a toxic working environment where threat, coercion and blame are commonplace will be charaterised by low moral, diaffection and demotivation. There could also be a high level of sickness absense and a quick turnover of staff or alarmling low levels of full time staff.

Bullying is not tough management - it is bad management and always will be.  Staff have a right to a safe, secure working environment and to feel they are a valued member and colleague. Unfortunately in some places like Muirhouse Social Work Department this is not the case.

How Do Bullies Work? - The Muirhouse Experience

bully.jpgBullying is all about power. Bullies want control of their victim and the environment.  Their main instrument of control is criticism. A colleague may focus on alleged underperformance. A manager may criticise everything from professional conduct to personal appearance. To correct the alleged failing, the victim jumps through more and more hoops, but the harder victims work, and the more they achieve, the greater the bully’s insecurity.

This damaging cycle often ends in the victim facing disciplinary procedures or stress, breakdown, or both. The bully then selects someone else to pick on and starts all over again.

Isolating victims from their friends and colleagues is key to a bullys tactics and the effects of this should not be underestimated.  It can be emotionally and psychologically damaging.  In a bullying workplace such as Muirhouse Social Work Department, colleagues are often afraid to stand up for the victim in case they become targets themselves. Those who speak out for friends being bullied or who blow the whistle on a bullying environment [THE MUIRHOUSE TWO] have shown to have been bullied.

As serial bullies try to move up the professional ladder, they become more and more able to abuse their power using all the tricks available to the serial bully. What angers the bully is the inability to move up the greasy pole because he or she believes they are some how superior to others. 

Who Are The Victims

Victims may do nothing to attract bullying, they may just be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But bullies will often target people they consider a threat, perhaps because they are good at their job or because they are popular. A typical target is conscientious,competent and well liked by colleagues. By contrast, bullies are usually disliked by all except their superiors and jealous of attention given to others.

Getting recognition for work well done may be enough to trigger their unwanted attentions. Often a victim will have a vulnerability which the bully can exploit, needing to pay the mortgage, being a single parent, living alone, having caring responsibilities, going through a seperation, divorce, bereavment or belonging to a minority. Usually it is those who are less able to pack in their job to escape who are most likely to be victimised.

The caring professions seem particulary vulnerable to bullying. Perhaps public service workers are vulnerable because the bullied employee feels a responsibility to others.  But Professor Cooper of UMIST argues that it is the unique pressure of the public services that creates a CULTURE OF BULLYING. But there is another type of bully, the one who cannot cope and takes it out on others. Excessive initiatives, heavy workload and a lack of resources are likely to breed more of these overload bullies.
